This is an rp journal for a Vampire: the Masquerade character, formerly played in the V:tM LARP "Carpe Noctem" at UIUC. Maugris's player does not own anything relating to V:tM, that would be White Wolf. He is also not making any money off of this. The character of Maugris himself belongs to his player; what Maugris can do and most elements of his backstory were all created either by White Wolf or by participants in Carpe Noctem, its Storytellers and players, without whom Maugris would never have made it far enough to be much of anything, much less a strong enough voice to want a journal for him after his run in the game ended.

Maugris is a member of Clan Tremere, theoretically a member of the Camarilla, and the former Prince of the (mostly fictional) city of Metatropolis. He's in possession of the following:
- an expansive knowledge of the occult
- quite good fencing skill
- sometimes-questionable social skills
- a love of both fantasy literature and Jimmy Buffett's music
- a motorcycle named Bayard after his namesake's horse
- a shaky respect for authority
- more than a bit of a hero complex
- what he sometimes feels like is one of the few functioning brains in a world that dissolves into insanity at the slightest provocation
- surprisingly good luck despite it all

He tries to be all three of responsible, nice, and intelligent - it generally shakes out in roughly that order. How much this results in him being happy is often debatable, especially among vampires.

And yes, he named himself after a character in a French fairy tale. For those not in the know, Maugris d'Aigremonte was the cousin of Renaud de Montauban, one of Charlemagne's knights, and was an enchanter raised by the fairy Oriande. And he had a magic horse named Bayard.
